When I was visiting Cornwall England in 2019 with my mom one of the locations we visited was the Iconic town of Port Issac. Port Issac is the filming location of the hit British tv series Doc Martin. Before you can enter the town of Port Issac as a tourist, you park at the town parking area around the side of the cliff of the village. There is a main walking path that is easy to walk and mostly flat with a flat decline into the village. With amazing Ocean vistas, the walk into town is magical on a good weather day with many good places to take scenic photos of the cove and of the House that Doc Martin lived in on the series.
Port Issac is the location for the tv series Doc Martin. I love the show and was so excited to see the lovely little cove where the hamlet of Port Issac is nestled. The town features the marina in the center of town and one main road that runs through the village. There are a few small passage ways around the cottages and you can forget where you are if you don’t pay attention but still it’s hard to get lost due to its size.
The village of Port Issac really plays into the series of Doc Martin with shops featuring souvenirs for fans visiting and the iconic hospital where Doc Martin lived and worked. Additionally, the Port Issac features the small cottage where Louisa, Doc Martin’s girlfriend lived and the school house where she worked.
Even though it was a gray day in Port Issac when we visited there was a frenzy in town due to current filming of the Doc Martin series. Nevertheless, our visit was filled with scenic natural views of the Ocean, a mosey about the small alley ways, and a snack at a local shop; all in all, a good visit and a box ticked off on the bucket list.
