If you never heard of Airbnb it is a website where you can book other people’s homes to rent for a night or even a whole vacation. Instead of staying in a hotel you can book an actual house, apartment, condo, boat, etc. with more amenities usually than a hotel. That is the main reason why I book Airbnbs, having a kitchen makes a vacation much easier and cheaper. I also look for airbnbs that allow pets because I have a little doxon pitmix named Bogey (golf term) and he likes to go on vacation too. This airbnb tour is a perfect example of the kind of airbnbs I look for when I have my puppy because it was fully fenced. When searching for pet friendly airbnbs you can modify your filter and put a check mark on pet friendly accommodations.

 

1. Book a place with a Kitchen – I cannot stress how important it is to book a place with a kitchen especially if you have kids or pets. Kitchens provide you with all the necessities to cook; so you can buy food and cook it instead of going out to eat for every meal during your vacation. With a kitchen in your airbnb you end up saving money leaving you with more money to have fun.

 

2. Try a Unique Place to Stay– When we booked an airbnb in Tampa Florida we booked a boat to stay on. It wasn’t a yacht but they do have yachts to book on airbnb if that is what  you are looking for. We fortunately booked a boat in the perfect location because it was in downtown where there are great boardwalks along the river and right next to the fireworks. It was my boyfriends birthday so I played it off as if I planned it, but we just got lucky. The boat was not huge but a perfect size with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living area, kitchen, and upper perch outside. The host of our boat airbnb was so great, he coordinated to meed us and show us everything, he was very accommodating and we even might stay there again. When booking an airbnb I would suggest to think outside the box and not expect too much because you are bound to be surprised and have an even better time than you imagined.

 

3. Location, Location, Location – This is probably an obvious one but location is key. If you have a family with kids you can look for things near by like parks for the kids to relax and play in during down time. If you like to party try and get a place off a side street near the bar line downtown or in a trendy area. This makes it easy and safe to get home at night. Or stay on a boat like we did so you have some outdoor space in a downtown location.
