Another little town in Cornwall England for this post, Exmouth. This was one of the cutest little hamlets we visited. The hotel was good with a nice breakfast. This seaside village had cute row-house lined streets and a cute beach-front boardwalk, good for families. We wandered down the beach and boardwalk through the town and sat in the middle of the town plaza. I would say this is one of the best places to raise a family as it seemed very safe and more like a Spanish Village than an English Village. We witnessed the prom or end of school dance crowd of high schoolers taking pictures and walking along the beachfront main street before their event. It was very entertaining and transported you into their lives for a moment.
Near our hotel there were beautiful gardens to walk through with perfectly manicured grass. This garden was so cute and seemed more like a secret garden and a pleasant beginning to our stroll through town. I didn’t get any pictures of the beach, some how, but it was a very cute beach town with some carnival rides along the main road. You couldn’t get lost in this little town because you would just end up back where you started. We stayed here in Exmouth our first nights in Cornwall and this was a good relaxing coast village for us to unwind from our journey all the way from London. I did think that Cornwall was mostly small stone ‘Cotswold style’ villages, but pleasantly surprised to learn how different the English Villages are from each other. This seaside coastal village changed my view on small town England forever.
We wanted some good food so I googled some ‘near by’ places and picked one. With this town being so quaint you would never have thought that they had such top quality restaurants. The name of the restaurant we chose was Saveur and I went with the steak. This was the best food I had since I had lived in Chicago and I missed the amazing flavors of top quality restaurants. Sorry but I have not had top quality food in Florida in the eight years I have lived here and yes, I know there are places and food in Florida but I was glad to have some excellent food during this trip. Sometimes, food looks good but doesn’t taste good but this was one of the best plates I have ever eaten anywhere in the world; I would say maybe even no.1. Definitely a ‘meant to be’ moment for me and a moment I will never forget. Saveur is a must try when visiting Exmouth, if I ever go back I will definitely eat at Saveur again!
