The Merveilleux & The Magnifique

Before my mom and I set out on our trip of Cornwall we met our group at this amazing little French pastry boutique near South Kensington Station in London. The Merveilleux is a delicate mousse-like whipped topping covered with chocolate shavings. The Merveilleux is the classic cake of all the pastries by Frederic Vaucamps where the recipe got a revamp with a lighter whipped consistency and multiple flavors in 1985. Some of the flavors include; chocolate, white chocolate, cherry, coffee, hazelnut-praline, and caramel . Frederic’s success came later after some failed startups, and so did the cramiques. The cramiques, are simple sweet breads and come in three varieties to suit anyone; chocolate, plain sugar, and raisin. The chocolate sweet bread is my favorite, not too sweet.
