St. Ives – England

The Cornish Candy Shoppe– Cornwall St. Ives England

My mom and I went on a trip to England and took a tour of Cornwall last summer in 2019 and one of my favorite spots along our trip was St. Ives. This seafront village is a popular tourist destination, not only for visitors but for the English as well. People from London and all over the UK flock to St. Ives for its picturesque beaches.

While basking in the warm summer sun of St. Ives you might forget for a moment that you are in England. This small escape could easily be mistaken for a Mediterranean village. St. Ives is a gem in the crown of England and it’s no wonder people all over the UK, and the world, holiday in this beautiful and breathtaking little hamlet.

I fell in love with St. Ives when we came upon the main beach and boardwalk along the northeast facing harbor. There is a mix of tourist spots where you have your choice of delicious treats, such as a Cornish pasty. As you can see from the video, the Cornish pasty is a staple meat and vegetable pie originally made as an “on the go” lunch for the local tin miners of ancient Cornwall.

The Cornwall area of England is filled with little villages, but St. Ives remains dear to my heart and, even though our trip was short, the views are spectacular. I can see why people spend their summers here; escaping the damp and cloudy days of northern England. If you are English and haven’t been to Cornwall, you are in for a treat and should make a point to stop in St. Ives for a quick snap or pasty.
